Back in 2009 I had the opportunity to work at a care home for adults with learning difficulties and multiple disabilities. I discovered a natural empathy with my new clients and enjoyed seeing improved changes in their emotional states, bringing smiles to faces and adding something beneficial to their day. Two of the clients had skin conditions which I helped manage with Aromatherapy oils; all of the residents had slow digestive systems which was addressed by Reflexology to the feet to stimulate the digestive organs.
Nowadays I visit care homes in East Hampshire/West Surrey for the elderly where the majority of the residents are in various stages of dementia or old age and whatever that may bring. My eldest client was 102 last year! I've also worked with a couple of ladies, one having suffered a severe stroke and another with terminal heart failure, during their end of life care I gave leg massage to the stroke patient and Reiki healing for the lady with heart failure, a completely humbling experience. I find the impact of human touch for residents of care homes is a beneficial one whether it's to help with relaxation or sleep, calming anxiety, or simply helping to make someone feel treasured.

• Ear candling
• Indian head massage
• Reiki healing
It is important when I meet a client with a disability to know from them or their carer about their condition and any symptoms and understand what they want to achieve from their treatment be it physical, mental or emotional. I am then able to give a tailor-made treatment concentrating on their concerns.
Examples of successful treatments include an autistic girl who was having a ‘black day’, a five minute hand massage transformed her mood to happy and calm, much to the relief of her exhausted mother, who herself benefited from a well-needed head massage too.
A regular client with cerebral palsy during his first treatment of combined Reiki healing and Indian head massage found that his 24/7 muscle spasms completely ceased for several days along with an improvement with his balance. He appreciates that something other than medication can help with daily pain.
I'm available for group bookings at residential/care homes and day centres outside of the East Hampshire/West Surrey area for a minimum of two hours of treatments.
