Black Spruce

Black Spruce is a mighty tree, growing in high latitude environments reaching up to the Arctic Circle where for up to 8 months of the year the temperatures are freezing. doTERRA’s Black Spruce exclusively comes from Canada’s Boreal Forests where they grow in some of the most adverse conditions in the world demonstrating their great strength and resilience!

The aroma of this conifer tree can be described as warm, mild, balsamic, and slightly sweet pine-like and is quite uplifting.

As an essential oil, this can be used aromatically and topically and may help to:

Aromatically: 3 – 4 drops in a diffuser for a relaxing, centering aroma throughout the day, and promote feelings of clear and easy breathing

Topical: Use in a massage after strenuous exercise, or when the body needs topical support, can bring soothing relief to the skin and minor irritations.

  • for massage, mix 5 drops with 10 ml carrier oil
  • for bath, mix 5 drops with 5 ml carrier oil
  • for perfume, mix 1 drop to 10 drops of carrier oil

Take a few moments to meditate and be still with Black Spruce. Add a drop to a tissue, or one drop to your hands and rub together and inhale deeply for a minimum of 30 seconds. With your eyes closed, where does it take you to in your mind? How does your body feel? What feelings come up to greet you? Give yourself 5-10 minutes, and I bet you’ll be feeling different.

I enjoy inhaling this aroma with my right hand over my heart, I close my eyes and in a heartbeat, I’m on the edge of a mountain forest, observing the beauty that surrounds me. I’m breathing deeply, inhaling the healing air that’s pure and unpolluted, the freshness is invigorating, and it makes me feel alive and tuned in to nature.

A few minutes in this Black Spruce place definitely uplifts me and I’m feeling present, de-stressed, and inspired once again! Give it a go, and let me know what you experience.

My favourite brand, doTERRA is the world’s largest essential oil company that invest in ongoing scientific research and discovers more and more about wonderful essential oils. For me, they are just the best.
